My wife and I have seen a lot of Gordy shows over the years. Has anyone else kept a casual eye on Terry and Rick during the shows? These guys are hysterical...they'll make eye contact, one of them will raise an eyebrow or give a nod of the head; like a dare! Then one of them will do something a little "off"...maybe a slightly alternate chord, or in Rick's case he'll hit an extra loud thump on the old bass, or hit the octave instead of the root note. Then they crack up over it; just like a couple of kids...Gordy will play about a 4 measure, then slowly turn and look back at them. But by then they're sitting/standing there stone-faced like nothing happened! Those two were REALLY bad (I mean that in a funny way) at a show here in Boulder in 1998. We were in stiches watching those two fool around. But, they've kind of kept it under control in the 3 or 4 shows we've seen since.

If you really think about it, these guys must REALLY get along. Haynes & Clements have been with him for about 30 years? PHEW!!!

A lot of beer has run under the bridge in that time.

Hello, Seahawk11,

I, too, have been to many Gord shows in the last 24 yrs. Year after year, my attention is divided between Gord & Rick. I'm a former bass player so I tend to watch Rick almost as much as I look at Gord. A lot of people might not appreciate what Rick does but I do. He's a phenomonal bassist, & is a strong anchor of the Lightfoot Band. He's also probably very funny & I agree about the interplay between Haynes & Clements. There's a lot of stuff going on behind Gord, but you really have to be watching them carefully to catch it. GL often refers to Rick as "the old straw boss" when he does the bandmember intros. I had the honour of meeting Rick at a studio taping here in T.O. a few yrs. ago. He's a nice guy & he signed my "Songbook" booklet.

that's all for now, take care

HA HA, watchman...you're right! Gordy is up there like the captain of the ship trying to keep a mutiny under wraps sometimes. And, Michael probably feels too new to mess around. I remember a show in 1989 or 1990, and when Gord introduced the band he said, "Here's the new man on the crew, Mike Heffernan!". OK, later on, I looked through some albums and saw that Mike had been playing with these guys for ages...but, I guess he'll always be the new boy.
