Yes I am sure you did Char but.....
My Dear Charlene
I also feel sure that I must have told you and/or the irrepressible (ebullient) Laurel at least once before that in order to display a picture (be it a jpg or gif) it
certainly helps indeed it is essential to use a genuine picture address and not the address of an actual web page or other
object. I can see exactly why you had a problem:-
In your undoubted haste to get the pic to corfid you right clicked on the accompanying blurb so your address was as shown in
this screenshot:-

Had you right clicked on the actual picture You would have obtained the correct addy (as used by "clever-clogs" Jones)

BTW I did once advise that it was a good idea to try pasting whatever address you proposed to use into your browser before
going public to save making a spectacle (read ass) of yourself!
And I have just realised that if you use the suggested upload to Sidney's Yahoo Group (to which I found you cannot link directly which is posibly because the URL is too long..hence my suggestion to create a notlong URL). well if you do that very thing the notlongsite then most helpfully shows your notlong URL as a hyperliknk so you can immediately confirm that the link works and will display your chosen pic. But thank you for giving me such a splendid example of an error to include in the troubleshooting section of my planned major rewrite of my tutorial.
The irony is that your chosen pic (oft used by peddlars of the Much More Music Video on ebay) has already been uploaded
(on July 23rd) to :- http://groups.msn.com/TheHomePageOfGordonLightfoot
by the group's founder young Sidney Freedman
Gotta love ya!!
John

but...but...but.....teacher....I was trying to show the whole ad -pic and text...not just the pic..... I DID RIGHT click on the picture, went to properties and that's what came up.i then copied it to wordpad/notepad and added the brackets etc. and pasted it in my post here...didn't work! I can't get your correct addy tho....
jimmy thinks he's SO smart....he's a poo-head...
i should at least get "E" for Effort!
lol
Char
keepin on tryin'
OKAY - just did it again- you also have to RIGHT click on "properties" not just the picture!!! THEN you get the right addy!
crikey!let's see if the WHOLE ad shows up or just the pic...

NOPE - JUST the pic-no ad text...

This is a GREAT photo! My fave of all the 'recent' ones. I have it right here, on my computer ...

I have a very good friend who is almost a dead-ringer with this photo.

It's one of my favourites too. Gord looks like he is really enjoying himself.

Upon reading this posting, it occurred to me that it might be much better, given Gord's brush with immortality, to refer to your friend as being "almost a live-ringer."

After I hit the 'submit' button, it occurred to me that "dead-ringer" may not have been the wisest thing to say.

And of course someone caught it! My Oopsie.

That's a familiar picture. I've use that picture as the wallpaper on my desktop for well over a year now. Though one of the idiots who came to install DSL and cable last weekend said "Hey, Willie Nelson, cool."

Yeah, I'm think he was from another planet.

Well, if he had said my friend's name, then you'd REALLY have been surprised!
