GL is getting a bit old (not real old) but is still having concerts, and is expecting to release another album. What's the highest age a singer/songwriter has been while staying in their musical career?

66 is quite youthful! I really hope that he finds it rewarding to keep working for many years yet.

George Burns (while not mainly a singer) put out an album at 94 or so.

the late great Johnny Cash wrote his last song 2 months before June died and 6 months before Johnny himself died.

I don't rightly know the answer here, but, in the Blues it been quite common to see folks like BB King hit 80 and then some . . . w/grit.

Willie Nelson is over 70 and writing as good as ever. Eubie Blake did it at 90.

People like Brother Ray, though choosing to stop writing yrs before, gave virtually his last breath - and it was as wonderful as wonderful can be wonderful.

A friend of mine, Beth, worked on piano w/ Lionel Hampton up to his death at 92. I asked her, "He can still hit all those notes can he?" Her reply: "Only the right ones."

I figure if Gord and others our hearts hear are allowed to live, they may write less, but the ones they do will be the right ones.

Sorry for straying from the original question. I was just typing w/ my eyes closed and those folks came to my fingers.
