Hi guys, Happy Thanksgiving to all. I was just cruising the 'net and found the site above. I checked it out and I see some of you whom I know post there, too. What do they do at that site we don't have here? Or is it just another source to chat with other Lightheads who might not come in here?

You're right Sheryl, the News Group (The NG as we call it) is just another source to chat with Lightheads. Some folks post to both places, but there are several who post only here and several who post only there. I check out both places because there are some pretty special people unique to each place. I think the basic reason some choose one over the other is the basic format/access is different and some prefer one format over the other and for some it's a time issue, they only have time for one and pick one over the other. But most of the people at both spots are really nice folks to chat with.

Hi Sheryl,
the NG is more guitar/musician orientated. Many of our fellow Lightheads are extremely talented musos (like our Cathy and Bill)and the talk over at the NG can sometimes be a little over my head (I cant even play the spoons!). Whereas here at Corfid, its just regular Lightfoot chat. But it's worth checking out the NG, if only to meet the rest of the Lightfoot internet community. Both 'forums' are peopled by 'Rainy Day People' - many of whom I feel honoured to call my friends.

The newsgroup has been around for a long time, since 1994, way before my time in cyberspace. It was started by Wayne Francis, the owner of http://www.lightfoot.ca , but Wayne no longer participates, as do few of the old timers. I don't know if they are just burned out or what. It's always bothered me that they can no longer take the time to stop in and say hello.
We goof off a lot on aml, but mostly because many of us have met. I'm sure it probably drives away some of the newer members, as they feel they aren't part of the club.
I enjoy both groups, but I've always felt very comfortable here, and enjoy the interaction with completely new fans who have just discovered Gord.

Yeah, what Cathy said.
I haven't met anyone in person though I feel like I know a few folks, having perused both the NG and corfid for years now.
And just because I don't know everybody or diddly-squat about guitars or other instruments doesn't mean I don't throw in my two cents (U.S.) on any given topic as the spirit moves me, LOL.

Ilove you guys, you always make me smile!! What a wonderful community. I don't play an instrument either (let's not count the few years of pathetic piano training I got as a child), but, I sing. Or used to. Not even in the shower anymore! Anyway, it's so nice to meet all you nice people.

For me it has only been one year on the NG and Corfid, though I've been listening to GL since the late 60s, but I echo Auburn Annie's sentiments.

Sheryl,
come join in the fun at the Massey get-together. You will have THE best time - and get to see Gord. Now is that good or what?

You don't know how much I'd love to, but, I'm in Los Angeles, my husband works 12-hr shifts at a hospital, and we have 3 kids under the age of 12 (the youngest is 5)... so, unfortunately, I can't. That and the plane fare alone would be out of the question. So... it's Vegas for me. <sigh> I'll have to hear from you guys how fantastic it was and just wait for my turn in late April. But, thanks, I'd have loved to.

Hi Sheryl,
Basically we wish eachother "Happy Birthday" endlessly. (an actual Birthday is not required}. We also have some good conversations with eachother about inside stories that maybe three of us at a time know. The others quess. We get a lot of spam! lets see.......oh yeah, we do under $1000.00 quitar reviews all the time. We occasionally endlessley apologize for accidentally hearing a non-authorized lightfoot song.....oh yeah,we basically don't know what we are doing and can prove it and we are legends in our own mind. That said we have survived all these long years!
