Get ready, everyone. As we speak, "The Minstrel of the Dawn" is airborn and USA bound. Are you all ready in New York?

BTW: Florian has a photo of Gord's airplane. (Actually, it's really not his. In Gord's own words, it's a "Rent-a-Jet"), but Florian says he really can't see a use for it on his web site. Should everyone contradict him? Should he show it? Let's see a show of hands now!!!!

Anyway, just wanted to share that. I'm excited about Gord's coming. Is anyone else?

Stay loose, eh?

Very excited, especially having just heard that he will probably be coming my way in April, my shcedule is so busy I can't pick up and go to whichever concert I want (which is what I'd like to do), but I hear he is at least coming to my state now...even if it is several hours away...

I know. I was thanking you for putting them there and showing my support (albeit belated) of getting them posted.

Hi, Queen,
lol. I know what you mean. I have to drive about 3 hours to go in April. And I know what you mean about concerts. You definitely have to pick and choose. But I'll tell you something funny (it wasn't at the time, though). Last year, I went all the way down to San Diego to catch Gord at Humphrey's because his schedule said that was the only place in California he would be coming that year. However, AFTER the concert, I found out he would be in my HOME TOWN the very next weekend which he hasn't done since 1983!!! Where I live, if you aren't a country music star, you don't get advertised. But, {sigh} I could have gone to see Gord without all the hassle of traveling and I didn't even know it. But I got to see him twice, though. So that made up for it.

Stay loose, eh?

That happens to me quite a bit, his coming is never well advertised in my area (the bonus...good seats). However, I think he is coming to the city where I grew up, which is cool because I can visit my parents and take them to the concert. I now live in Eastern Washington. I don't think that he ever comes here. Oh well. It is cool that you got to see him twice, even if you had to take that road trip to get there, BUT there is always something fun in that too....

Hi Queen,
lol. No, it WASN'T a fun road trip. Thought I'd be smart and take AMTRAK. Except what they don't tell you until you start is the trip consists of one-third train and THREE-THIRDS BUS!!!! It was HORRIBLE! I'll never "ride the rails" again -- unless I'm sure I'll be on the rails the WHOLE trip! lol.
I assume the concert you're talking about is in Bellingham? That's funny because my very best friend lives in Lynnwood and we haven't seen each other since high school (a LONG time ago). Her mom has been pretty sick and she's been wanting me to come up there and we've been toying with the idea of possibly going to that concert. It it's the same one, and things work out, maybe I'll see YOU there, too. Sometimes it's a small world.

Stay loose, eh?

Ah, well, sorry about your Amtrak experience. If you end up planning to go to the Bellingham concert let me know, it would be interesting to meet. I have horrible luck with his concerts, I lived in this tiny town in California called Thousand Oaks my first two years of college, I constantly watched to see if he was coming anywhere nearby. Now, of course, two years later, Thousand Oaks is on his concert list...that is the way it always seems to go...

I will definitely let you know, Queen. (Actually, I guess I ought to start thinking of making up my mind pretty soon now -- lol)

Yes, I know where Thousand Oaks is. Speaking of small towns Gord plays at. He played at Lachlin, Nevada last year. Talk about a "one-horse town". And he sold out, too, which is even more amazing. I wasn't putting down Lachlin (in case anyone who reads this is from there), please don't misunderstand me. Actually, I think it's kind of nice that he does get around to the smaller places instead of just the big cities. Makes himself available to people who otherwise wouldn't get to enjoy a concert. He did a concert in Fresno a few years ago just because a group was trying to restore an old theatre that was kind of a town landmark and they were trying to get it back and on its feet again. The concert was kind of expensive, but it all went back into the restoration fund of the theatre, so I don't think he even made a profit on that one. But he drew a big crowd and apparently it was just what was needed. He probably wouldn't have booked a concert there ordinarily. But he's always doing things like that. Guess that's one of the reasons we all admire him so much.

Stay loose, eh?

And there I was complaining last summer when I saw that he was coming to York, Pa. -- an entire hour from my home. But thinking that that meant he would not be coming to the Balt. or Wash DC area I bought my York tickets last August for tom. nights concert. Then two months ago, what appears on his schedule? Baltimore on March 12. Guess where I'll be March 12? We folks here on the east coast take for granted the close proximity of alot of the big music centers here. Hope you guys make it to as many as you can out west. BTW, how was the concert at Humphreys last summer?

Hi, Chris,
Good to hear from you. Humphreys was great. One of Gord's best. And there was an added bonus. We went over there earlier in the afternoon before the show (because my son, Wayne wanted to check out all the boats there at that marina) and while we were wandering around, Gord was rehearsing. Being an open-air stage, the rehearsal could be heard all over, so we got kind of a little pre-concert. It was really a nice addition.

Chris,
I logged off and forgot to say this -- lol -- (it's the Alzheimer's again -- pay no mind)

Since you'll be the first of us to see Gord, and you'll catch the FIRST concert of the tour -- you MUST report back IMMEDIATELY with all the details!!

Stay loose, eh?

P.S. Try to take pictures if you can

LAMS,

Actually I think I will be the first this year. We have tickets to his concert at the Schubert Theater in New Haven, CT on March 9th. He is 90 minutes up the road in Northampton, MA the next night but previous plans prevent me from a double header (rats!). I live just about in between the two cities. I have not seen him live in about 10 years so anticipation is very high. I had no problem getting excellent seats. We are going with good friends and expect a very special evening.

I am traveling the next day. I don't think I will have time but if I find a few free minutes I will post a some details.

Buddy

I saw Gord back in the early 90's in Boston, at Boston syphony hall. Since then I have moved to louisiana. I don't see any concert dates down here, and was wondering if anyone knows anything about him touring this far south this year.

Hi, Paul,
Don't necessarily go by the "written in stone tour schedule". Like I put in my previous post. I went all the way to San Diego just to find out that he was coming to Sacramento the next weekend. The thing was that the last dates he did in California last years were kind of last-minute things. So just keep watching the internet. Concert dates change at the last minute. Don't take the current list as "the way it is." It could change as close as a week before he comes to your town. Don't give up hope. I think Gord likes the South, so you just might get to see him this year! I hope you get to.

Stay loose, eh?

Sorry BuddyP, I wanna be first! Tonight's the night. My husband and I head to York for the concert this afternoon. We're having dinner with a few fellow fans and then the concert. I've had these tickets so long it's hard to believe March 1st is finally here. I remember when I bought them last August. We were driving home from vacation in Maine and I insisted on ordering them the day they went on sale, which meant calling from the car somewhere in Connecticut. But I vindicated myself when I finally got through and many good seats were already gone. I gave everyone in the car a smug smile.

To those of you wondering when GL is coming to your neck of the woods. Check out www.pollstar.com. I don't know if it has the absolute latest on every booking but they will email you when new dates are added to a specific artist's schedule. I just got an email telling me a new date has been added to GL's itinerary. Problem is I don't know remember all the dates so I don't know which is new, so if you're hoping for a visit check out that site.

I will be glad to post a review as soon as I can - no promises for Thursday though. That day is pretty packed.

Wes-- are you out there? Hope you're feeling better.

I was just reading the latest posts and this is ti kids. The Man's out there doon' his thing for us, again. I also read about the tickets sales. I live in Southwestern Utah, a little town called MOab, and the closest concert will be in Grand Junction, Colo at the end of August. I called and tickets went on sales today, I was the first caller and got front row center....HOLY CRAP!!!!!!

God Bless Gordy, and May He keep him healthy and safe.
