Well, I was one of those people who did not have tickets to the original concert series at Massey Hall. I am also not a friend of Massey Hall, and cannot afford to become one. So I had to wait until today to order my tickets. I wanted to go on Saturday night. I was right there online at 10:00 a.m. with a very fast computer and Internet hook up at my fingertips. The best seats I could get were in the balcony, 3rd row, to the right of center (4 seats). I'm happy with these seats, but I was somewhat surprised that right at 10:00 a.m., I was already up in the balcony. Did anyone else wait until today? How did you guys do? Also, who has the prime seats in our group? How did you get them?
Gotta go for now.

There probably weren't too many seats available for any of the nights because folks held onto their seats from Nov.2002. That would leave the seats left for purchase pretty scarce I imagine.
Actually those seats are pretty good - I've sat in all areas of Massey for 30 years and in 2001 for a Lightfoot show i was 2nd or 3rd row in the balcony around centre area and the sounda nd sights were great. You are actually closer to the stage than the folks in the back rows on the floor as the balcony has an overhang...
you'll enjoy yourself I'm sure!

Ok, brink is leaving this for me to do. I really want to and don't want to all at the same time. I don't want to jinx myself and have to eat these words later, but what the heck: Thursday night,
FRONT ROW AND CENTER....YEAH BABY!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the heads up MM... I kinda figured seats for the show would be scarce based on people holding tickets from 2002. GL was scheduled to appear here in Brantford 2002 right after the Massey Shows so I never bothered getting a ticket ** slaps forehead**.

As much as I hate it, might have to sit this one out

Hopefully The Sanderson announces soon when he is coming here!

I personally think the sound is best from the center balcony because you get a great stereo effect from the band and you get a nice echo from the old Hall herself which simply adds a nice ambience to the sound. And Gord has fantastic sound to begin with so you don't get much better than that. I was once about 3 rows back on the floor but way over to the left of the stage and I have to admit the sound wasn't so good. So stay in the middle if you can.

I"ve never sat in the back, but my very first time to Massey I had front row seats, on the Terry side, the last seats in the row. The sound wasn't great, and I was happy later that week when I was farther back and more center. The sound was much better.
In my experience, it would be difficult to have a "bad" seat anywhere in Massey Hall.

Congratulations - but with you two in the front row how will the band be able to concentrate ?

Thanks Bill. Either you're being awfully sweet or you're referring to my disruptive personality. If it's the latter, I'll do my best to keep the obnoxiousness (is that a word?) to a minimum. Either way, I'm sure they'll have no problem concentrating. lol

Well I haven't met brink so that was just a shot in the dark BUT if you look at the pictures I took of you with the "boys in the band" you'll notice they're smiling even brighter than you were. Have a great time !

true, i started out asking for tix for a bunch of folks at about 9:55 am, and got thru by 10:50 and they have nothing decent so then i asked for just a pair together for any night and they said the best they had was row R floors, holy crud...popular concert, then again you've got 100,000 GL fans in the GTA and only about 10,000 seats available over 4 nights, so no big surprise

anyhow, i told Massey i'd get back to them, lol...i'll make a few calls and just look out for myself (that's my motto for 2005 )

i've sat everywhere more or less in Massey and it's a wonderful visual from all points of view (unless you're behind one of the posts!) but i've never really heard wonderful sound at all...maybe this time i'll remove my touque

oh, way to go brink and lsh, excellent stuff!

ps) thx for nothing, BW...lol, just kidding:P

Next time I'll get you the seat next to Lizanne & me, deal ?

Bill

My guess is he'll probably play as long as John Lee Hooker did or at least as long as Frank Sinatra.
