Guilty with Gord

I'm sure some of you can identify with my story. I'm married with four children and we have to make ends meet on just one income for now. As a result money is always an issue in our house. About a year ago, I discovered the joys of ebay and began picking up CDs of Gord's past material. I wanted to replace my vinyl albums. I really enjoyed them and I kept picking up more and more. I even found a second hand cd store around my place that had one or two albums. Eventually, my wife (who does like Gord)said, "You've got to stop buying all these cds. We don't have the money, and what about getting some other cd's that I would also enjoy having." I gulped hard. What if I see a really good deal? Also, I don't want to wait until they are rare and out of print!

Well, I'm sure you can imagine what happened. I'm still buying them but I'm sneaking them in the house without her knowing. We have a really good relationship, but I don't want to stop until I have all the studio albums safe in my collection.

It seems funny to me that I'm sneaking Gord into my house like its contraband. I guess that's what a real fan has to resort to sometimes. Sometimes, my wife happens to notice one of the newer cds laying around the house, but because there are so many of them now, she doesn't realize that its a new one.

I only have two left to buy: If You Could Read My Mind and Cold on the Shoulder (And Harmony on May 11th of course). And I must tell you that listening to those classic albums like Shadows and Dream Street Rose on Cd has been a bit of heaven on earth. They sound great on CD.

Have any of you had to resort to subversive activities because of Gord???

by, well, me! Your sentence is to
thoroughly enjoy all GL material in your
possesion for LIFE!

p.s. If you come up with any new ways
of getting future discs in to your home with
out her knowing, please let me know, as this may come in handy some day!!!!!!

Hmmm...another Gordaholic out of the closet. I suggest you look for the nearest chapter of GA and, for your sake, I hope the CD player doesn't go on the fritz!

Maybe if you decide that Gord is going to be the only artist at this time that you invest the money in getting his entire catalog. Then, you'll have plenty of great music to listen to, until such time that you can expand your musical horizons. I've had a complete Lightfoot library for so long, I guess I tend to take it for granted. Thanks to your posting, I realize that I'm actually very lucky to own what I have. I appreciate it....

I hope you realize it's not going to stop after the 20 original albums. There are still a bunch of bootlegs, DVDs and compilations you need to get. After that, you'll need to start a collection of 'People who sing Gord songs'. It's an addiction, and you have a long way to go before you're cured.

And don't forget autographed pictures. You need to collect those too, and promotional posters, and singles, and then you need to buy a D-18 vintage guitar, followed by a D18, GL, and a Gibson B-45 12 string..... You've only just begun.
