A very early song of Lightfoot's (probably from the mid 60's) Pride of Man is eerily prophetic of the events of Sept. 11. If you get a chance, have a good listen to it. It will send shivers through you.
I agree Gordon does a great version of that song but for the record it was written by Hamilton Camp and is one of only a handful of covers that he has recorded.
Shortly after September 11th, I printed a bunch of copies of Pride of Man and handed them out to my employees, most of whom are under 25, and before they knew me, had never heard of Lightfoot. (Believe me, they know who he is now, and some of them even own a couple of Lightfoot CDs). Anyway, their reactions to the song were pretty much unaminous. "Wow! That is spooky!"
Bill is right. "Pride of Man" was indeed written by Hamilton Camp. Gord gives it an excellent reading but let's give credit where it is due. The song is definitely prophetic.

Thanks Bill and James for setting me straight on the original song writer of Pride of Man. Good move by Cathy teaching the "under 25'ers". Thanks for all your comments. Bret
