Well, the price isn't that bad, considering at least one of them went for over $6000 on Ebay. And the value is only going to go up and up. It's actually a pretty good investment. Most people bought them for 25% to 40% off originally, so this guy is probably doubling his investment.
They are fantastic guitars. I've played Val Magee's a couple times, after dousing my hands in holy water and promising not to play anything but Lightfoot, not to leave any fingerprints on it, breathe on it, move while I'm playing it, etc... etc... etc.
The guitar has beautiful overtones and sustain.
Char, now is the time to trade up. Get rid of that air guitar of yours and get one that you don't have to inflate every time you want to play.

Selling a D18-GL, oh dear. Nothing would induce me to sell mine.
Apart from my family, my D18-GL and my and my fathers gongs are my dearest possesions.

I am glad I finally found others who revere GL as much as I do.
I also have a D-18GL, #7 of 61. I assure anyone interested that the instrument is well worth the cost now.. and will be for a long time to come.

Hey, Rich (Triedtoregister), please write to me with your e-mail address and full name if you are willing to be on my list of D-18GL owners. I have about 30 of them tracked down and am always on the lookout for another. Mine is #22.
I am a bit surprised that Clive's guitar didn't sell because $4500 is a very reasonable price on a resale. I know quite a few people who paid more - and not one of them has any second thoughts. It's a wonderful guitar that will sound better and better over time, and the sound today is just remarkable - even when I demonstrate it to friends, and I am a terrible guitar player.
