Having heard about his retirement, what went through your minds when Gord released his latest album (back then) "Waiting For You"?

I think I said "yippee" or maybe "hot damn", but my memory isn't what it used to be.

I actually found out about that in Rolling Stone Magazine when they reviewed the CD. They only gave it 2 1/2 or maybe 3 1/2 stars. Stating that an artist who has been around as long as he's been surely has more to say than this (in regards to the songs.) They also chided him for the length of it as well (too short?) Idiots!

Anyway,my reaction was,"He's still recording?"
Beacuse before that, the last I or anyone had heard of him was East Of Midnight and the single,"Anything For Love" which here in Phoenix,AZ was played quite often on KKLT or K-Lite 98.7FM. in '86/'87.

I didn't even know there had been a GG 2! Of course,I wasn't the avid listner that i am now. Been me,Later!

I went out the next day and bought it. That is one concert that I will never forget and will cherish that fond memory as long as I walk this earth. To this day, WFY is one those CD's that makes me travel back in time to 1993.

Did he play all the songs from the album in order? Did they sound much different?

As I have stated elsewhere here, I have always been a bit disappointed by WFY. Not that I don't like it, mind you, but it has never stuck with me in the way that other albums have. I have always enjoyed Gord's cover of Dylan's Ring Them Bills from that cd, however. Now, his 1998 release: A Painter Passing Through, for me, has been a much more lasting and significant contribution to his overall catalog. There are several tunes on that cd that I feel truly reflect where Gord was at in his life and career. You asked and, for what it's worth, that's my .02 worth!
