Recently got the Live in Reno video, distributed by Quantum Leap in the U.K. Has anyone else purchased this video and spotted the "inaccurracies" on the packaging? Not only does it claim that Gord's career spans three decades! (I think it's now five!) But only 14 songs are listed as being on the video (in the wrong order too) In fact the video has 22 songs from the concert! the running time too, is given as 55 minutes whereas it actually runs for nearly 90! Great value, i say. Worth the money for Blackberry Wine alone!

I've got my DVD from "Quantum", I'm so happy ( still smiling !! ). I think its great, the sound is great, the picture quality is great, 24 songs, almost 80 min. Gord looks like Gord, and Terry and Rick look fantastic.
For the first time ever we have been able to purchase something that will work on our Aussie ( PAL ) system.
The only problem Bru, there is no Christain Island, but we cannot have everything
Highly recommended to everyone, especially us in far away Countries who cannot get to real concerts, ( its getting close ).
Really Smiling..
Ron

Hey Joveski, congratulations on your 100th post... Keep up the good work.
You can order the Video through Quantum, it only takes a week, and costs an arm and a leg, but you will enjoy it, and it works on our TV's. Who knows they may sell it in Oz some time, but we will be too old to enjoy it.
Keep Smiling Ron.

Dan (and everyone else),
The initial run of the videotape had 22 songs on it. They knew that but they sent it out to people who pre-ordered (and maybe some who ordered after release).
The tape is supposed to have only 14 songs and future production runs will have only the 14. So you can't count on getting the 22 song tape and there is probably no way to tell from the box. I guess they figured nobody would complain (!) if they got more than they were supposed to.
The DVD has the 22 songs, as will both the tape and the DVD in North America. So Dan, count yourself lucky!

Ron,
I was a bit disappointed that there was no
Christian Island on the video but I learned
to live with my disappointment!
Then I got lucky and he sang it each nite
at the Massey in May ... I thought I'd died
and gone to heaven! sigh!
How many times you viewed that video now?
lol

Hey Bru... these DVD, don't wear out do they.. Gee I love the sleigh bells in "Song for a Winters night"... don't get me started... My "Gordon who ?? " friends think I'm a bore already .
Joveski, go to Valerie's site, gordonlightfoot.com , then "Live in Reno", then down the bottom of the page to Quantum DVD / Quantum Video.
It cost 19 English pounds plus 4 pounds postage, ( about $70 Aus dollars ).. but whos counting, its great !!.
Keep Smiling Ron

it's just TOO great, isnt it? And doesnt
he look fabbo too?!
sigh ..
and isnt it good to hear 'Rainy Day People'
live ? Ron-boy, you HAVE to come to
the Massey next year. NO - no arguement.
Its not negotiable. You will just have to
starve for a year but be there! It is an
event you have to experience! But in the
meantime - enjoy Reno Live! Again and again
and again and again ....
Bru

Ron,
hate to destroy your spirits but the Reno DVD is selling for $39.95 at HMV in Bourke St. I think you said you paid $70 or something. Pity I don't have a DVD!

One more review for the DVD version: 5 stars(out of a possible 5). The soundtrack would make a great CD by itself. Our van came with a DVD player (for kids to watch on long trips) and today was the first day I tried it myself. Had my wife drive and I sat in the back pretending I was at a concert. Probably looked like a middle aged man having a stroke to the other drivers, but what the heck. FYI, the price is down to $19.98 (US) at Barnes & Noble's website. Great value - I've heard these things won't wear out - I hope they're right. If you don't have it, get it, you won't regret it.

Amazing 1
I wanted to reply to an recent topic in which I used the expression "an arm and a leg" but the corfid search system failed as it too often does in my experience
to find it I then resorted to a google search for "corfid an arm and a leg' add it found the old style address of an old
Reno video topic at:-
http://www.corfid.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/000823.html
But trying to reply to that I was told by corfid incorrectly that I seemed to be lost
I had however noted that catmanron had quoted the UK Reno video distributors "quantum leap" so I used that to re-search on
corfid which of course then brought up the required Reno video topic at:-
http://www.corfid.com/ubb/ultimatebb...=000823#000000
(this topic) note the slight address format change from the older style that google found
I will now use the current address version for my reply.
I had wanted to say this:-
2.Amazing the rez (Rex) has recently sent me some five fine examples of Canadian humo(u)r yes
they spell words generally correctly up there! And one of them is an exact and very topical
illustration of what catmanron said in this old topic and I repeated in the other recent topic that I tried to find:-

The funnier thing was that when I went to upload them to my web site to my fledgling "funthings"
folder,I found that I had already uploaded an earlier set of rex's funpix (a few of which I and others used in an earlier
topic.they are here:-
http://www.johnfowles.org.uk/funthin...ian_humour.htm
OK OK I know that jokes are not really the preserve of the general discussion forum but the Reno video and Canada in general
certainly here so apologies if I have offended anybody by using this topic
Anyway it has useful info on videos for the growing throng of head-walking Australian fans posting here
John Fowles
We made love; we had such fun.

I am resurrecting this particular topic as it corrects the earlier impression I had and referred to in aNswering Bru's small talk DVD topic that catman-Ron was sent an NTSC format Reno DVD from the States (perhaps it was that other Melburnian Peter Treloar??)
OK the purpose of this posting will now become clear. I have,I think. previously mentioned that I was struggling to complete a new 21st century desktop.
It is virtually done now,
I have installed Windows XP Media Centre Edition, Roxio Easy Media Creator 8 and a DVD-ROM Drive but I was not best pleased
when I inserted a DVD for the first time to be told (I kid you not):-
"WMP cannot play the DVD because a compatible DVD decoder is not installed on your computer"
which seemed pretty dumb after all just what is the point of a Media Centre Ediion that handles DVD production it can't play DVDs??
Off I went a'googling but I only really found a Microsoft site listing approved DVD decoders that all would cost $$$
As did a google search for a DVD Player program. All that is except:-
http://www.cliprex.com
who offerred a rather confusing choice of not one but four allegedly free DVD Players. I dutifully downloaded them for evaluation and installed two, both of which declared unequivocally that they were free only because you had to accept a bundle of assorted parasitical search engines and extraneous toolbar garbage the friggin losers!! Plus the diabolical when-up that I have had trouble with before.
I then thought lets try a DVD again and was exceedingly surprised to find that I was now offerred the choice of playing it with either Roxio's Cine Player or (as I had wanted all along) Windows Media Player 10.
So of course I fetched my Reno DVD,largely because, ever since my friggin stoopid under enginered Sony Vaio laptop decided unilaterally to pack it in, I have not had a DVD drive equipped PC to play Reno on and capture my favo(u)rite scene in it.
This is right at the beginning, after Gord has sauntered no swaggerred on to the stage. plugged in his axe then looks straight at the camera with a delightfully wry and cheesy grin:-

John Fowles
Now to download some free anti-spyware progammes and try to eradicate the residue of the cliprex nonsense
Oh well you and live and learn
