If you had to choose a string of FIVE CONSECUTIVE Gordon Lightfoot albums to represent your favorite GL "era," which five would you choose? Here is the list of his albums in order, in case you don't know the order:

Here's my list: If You Could Read My Mind, Summer Side of Life, Don Quixote, Old Dan's Records, Sundown. This is the absolute classic period, IMO. I'm curious to see what others' lists look like. I know some people will want to include all 20 in their list, but try to come up with your FAVORITE FIVE IN A ROW!!!

Dream Street Rose-'80
Shadows-'82
Salute-'83
East of Midnight-'86
Waiting for You-'93
I much prefer the later albums. The first four are right up there, and Waiting For You is a wonderful album, though not on par with the first four.

Good question .... and almost impossible to answer as it inevitably excludes some of my favourites releases.
However for consistency's sake, I'd take the five between "Don Quixote" and "Summertime Dream".

Yep I am one of the "I'll take all of them" but I guess it would be Sundown through Dream Street Rose. But just like my favorite song, this choice will change as the days go by.

This is almost impossible to do but if I had to pick 5 in a row they would be:

Don Quixote-'72
Old Dan's Records-'72
Sundown-'74
Cold on the Shoulder-'75
But doing that leaves out Sunday Concert, which is one of my favorites. Good question!

I'm in agreement with a couple of others here. My list would be:

Cold on the Shoulder-'75
Summertime Dream-'76
You could also throw in Endless Wire-'78 to make it an even six, but there's no way I could toss out DQ to put it back to five.

collectively always be my favo(u)rite consecutive five
Of course my prefered CD coverage is the three reissues by the bear family
when that opens suche/search for "lightfoot"

track and
even better "plus" version with
no less than five bonus tracks
