From:-

THE TONIGHT SHOW - NBC - 1965
Johnny introduces Lightfoot as a rising star on the folk scene. Lightfoot performs Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues and Early Morning Rain
I have just heard the Dylan song sung live in an audio only recording that I was previously unaware of.
It made a pleasant change from the usual studio version as found on the single

and on the German Bear Family Sunday Concert Plus

It reminded me that when I told a group of doubting ladies in the chatroom one night back in 1999 that I had ordered the about to be released Songbook box set on line from an American seller in Florida they thought it highly risky , but having been released for sale only on the Monday June 14th it arrived exceedingly quickly on Wodensday the 16th leading me to report to the Newsgroup very happily at:-
http://groups.google.com/group/alt.m...92550503?hl=en
where I said
"I received MY set here in the South of England this morning. It was
collected by UPS from Soundstone's distributors on Monday evening. Pretty
good service I'd say, and not what the ladies of doom said about UPS in the
Chat Room last night."
I also remember realising later that I had meant to say "Goddesses of Doom" as in Bob's lyrics

Doesn't that just make you wish that clip of him on the show was still available?

It just amazes me that they just either tossed out or taped over Johnny Carson's early shows!

I know there was no way to see into the future about home video/DVD but still, this was a man's lifes work, not to mention history in the making.

Great 45rpm pic John!
