Okay, now that we know Gord's finished his studio album (hint: a new live one, maybe from the next Massey concerts, would be nice), what previously unrecorded songs that you've heard him do in concert would you like to be on it? I expect "No Hotel" would get a number of votes. What else?

According to Wayne Francis' site:
Lightfoot's new studio album has been completed and awaits release once a label has been determined. The recording was done prior to Gord's illness last year, with some instrumental overdubs being done since that time to round out the sound and production.
News on label and release date will be forthcoming. Album title and tracklist are still not finalized and subject to change.
More news as it becomes available
*****************************************
We knew he'd been working on one, and he'd mentioned in the April Toronto Star article:
"During the interview, he not only revealed that he was continuing to work on an album — the 20th of his career — that he had begun early in 2000 and for which he has written 23 songs, he also played recordings of a few of them during this interview."
*******************************************
Alas, the reporter either didn't think to ask, or Gord never said, the names of those songs that he played (lucky devil.)

Thanks Annie, I have gotten very lazy since Gord isn't "active" and haven't checked any of the other sites. I think I live in a cloud sometimes.

For years I have wished GL would record "Partners". He sang this in concert quite often in the 70s. It's a novelty tune about two miners stranded in a blizzard, one of whom resorts to cannibalism! For anyone interested, complete lyrics can be found on Wayne Francis' site, under the Unreleased Songs header. As I recall, this tune was always a crowd pleaser and the lyrics are very clever.

I wish he'd put out on CD the two songs he wrote for the 1970 Michael Douglas debut film,"Hail Hero". One song he plyed in concert last year,I don't remember the title, and of course the title track which is heard in the opening of the film (or is it closing?) I saw the film once on late night TV about 3 years ago. The plot is basically like the song,"Sit Down Young Stranger". Those two are definetly the top of the wish list, the others are simply everything he's ever recorded. Even if they're not 1st rate,I'm interested. Well,it's been me,later!
