the imagery in his songs always makes me want to be going to Canada. This quote validates what my favorite college writing professor said when teaching us about imagery and short story writing. He told us to look no further than a Gordon Lightfoot song if we wanted to learn about writing perfection. He said Gordon was the best story teller there was.

I agree with you, the images he creates makes you want to go to Canada, or at least you can have a vision of it in your mind. I will never forget the story of him on one of his canoe trips out in the backwoods, and him paddling his canoe into someones camp site and visiting them for awhile. I would be totaly stunned if I was one of the campers. Here you are out in the wilderness and in pops one of the most famous singer/songwriters of Canada's history. What a neat image I get from this story. Plus his song stories of the workers, travelers, history, and lovers, make for fine images of the people. He deserves the award for sure.

Re: Honour for Gordon - May 9, 2011
I was quite honoured when reached by the person in charge of creating a video to show before presenting Gordon with his award and asked if I had any footage, contacts, ideas for what might be incorporated into the montage. My friend Andy Frank of www.rootsmusic.ca gave them my name.
I hope Gordon likes what she creates.

Your professor was SOOO right about that. Through his music, I have, in the spiritual sense, gone places that most folks only dream about. And the things that I have seen while on these "journeys" have been marvelous & beautiful to see. And on top of that, I have felt things that I didn't think I could feel.
