That's a great shot of them!

Kristofferson performed here just last Dec. in Phoenix, same night as Streisand co-incidently. The big coincidence being the 30th anniversary of filming part of,"A Star Is Born" at Sun devil Stadium in Tempe in 1976.

I don't know much about "The Band" except their song "The Weight",is Garth the one who sings lead on that one?
I saw them perform that on the concert film/DVD "Festival Express",filmed in the summer of '70,in Canada,on that tour.

Did you see that tour Charlene? Just wondering.

I've never see The Band perform live.
Here's some info-Garth has his own sites listed there as well:
http://theband.hiof.no/
Song listings of performances at:
http://theband.hiof.no/singles/index.html

Up on Crippled Creek, The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down are another two songs they did.
Garth was the piano player and other keyboards. Richard Manuel, Levon Helm or Robbie Robertson usually sang lead.
The site has sound clips and details in the Discography "ALBUMS" section..

great shot, char!
if you've heard Garth talk, he's quite the low voice

btw, Rick Danko (RIP) sang many of the lead vocals (loved the way he moved and his soaring voice) on the majority of early Music From Big Pink tracks, maybe one of most classic albums ever

Helm sang many of the 'hits' but Manuel (RIP) was 'the voice', imo

if you were to rank the fave Classic Albums programs, I would say you can't miss seeing The Band MFBP episode...FM's Rumours also quite interesting when the band not too caught up in themselves, lol...when is it time to have Sundown added an a long awaited episode? i'd love to see Gord at the soundboard mixing up the various tracks a bit

oh, just to 2nd degree this to Gord, Cathy Smith was also part of The Band 'party'...still keeping an eye for youtube footage, anything's possible
