We native Michiganders and Michiganians pronounce it De-TROIT...two syllables. Most Canadians and French heritage folks, I've noticed, do pronounce it with three syllables, unless they use the true native French pronounciation, which is Day-TWAH. But then again, some natives pronounce Mex-i-co as MAY-he-co...so there ya go! To each his own and I say to-MAY-to while you say to-MAH-to. And my AUNT isn't really an Ant.
