Frank v: Your right, we should follow Gordon's lead. Just like in his cable TV appearance he starts with..."If you see me on the TV acting proud, please understand why I don't talk to loud" and later "If you want to know an answer, I can't turn your life around, For I am just a painter passing thru the underground".[Char-I don't have the VHS of it, I'm just going from the shows song list] Obviously Gordon is a humble man. I've got a 9 year old girl who doesn't yet comprehend the greatness of this man. We'll get in the car & I'll put Gordon on the CD and she'll complain "...not that guy again!" I'm sorry, I just can't get into "Slim Shady". Hopefully one day she will see the brilliance of this man...his down to earth values, love of nature, and his love of life.
I just wish he would still come out with new albums every year or so. I hope he doesn't retire for a long time(maybe from touring, but not from writing/singing albums). I was bummed when I read that Gord retired after "East of Midnight" because "when your albums aren't selling it's not practical for a man to spend his life chained to a desk...you have to grow up and realize that there is a new generation of recording artists out there" If I could have said something to him at the time I would have said "Just because your albums aren't selling like they used too doesn't mean anything...you are one-of-a-kind. Talent like yours comes around once in a lifetime" Looking back today, the "new generation" of recording artists don't have the soul of Gordon's pinky. Long live Gordon Lightfoot & his music!!
