I thought of something kind of peculiar tonight. I thought of my late grandfather who died when I was only 8 years old. He had had a stroke a few years back and his speech was totally impaired and I didn't get the chance to remember actually talking with him actual words. It's kind of sad to think about it though becuase it's been almost 15 years since he died and since he died when I was a child, I didn't realize how that loss would feel years later, you know?
Anyway, to my point. My mom used to tell me that my grandpa loved to go to Canada. In fact, he loved nature itself. He loved going places that were totally in the boondocks. He went to Chapleau, (sp?) Ontario once with my grandma and my mom (when she was a kid). My grandma wasn't too crazy about it, but my grandpa had a thing for that kind of stuff.
Well, when my grandpa's brother's came over while my mom was growing up, my grandpa and they would love to play music together. They would play banjo, guitar, harmonica and stuff. They had a knack for playing music together.
I wonder if my affinity for Lightfoot's music is somewhat inherited from my grandpa's love for nature/Canada and the music he liked to play with his brothers! I never ever thought about this before, but I'm starting to wonder if my grandpa would have liked Lightfoot's tunes as much as I did, and whether my taste in Lightfoot's music (or his style of music, that is) is simply me or passed on from my grandpa.
I don't know if this is going overboard or not, but I kind of wanted to get this off my mind!
