whilst drafting and researching this response I see that the Char_ming board moderator has stolen some of my thunder but nevertheless I will say my piece:-
Welcome Klaus-Peter presumably from Germany judging from the @t-online.de on your email address.
If so where??
My own limited German experience concerns a brief visit many moons ago to Hamburg en route for Copenhagen when as a poor student with two other french students we felt hungry and we decided that the place for a cheap meal would be the main Hamburg station buffet but how were we to know that there a "hamburger steak" was an expensive cut??!!
I digress strange that you asked primarily for Gord's bio details since to get here you must have been looking at the entry page to this site and must have missed the biography link to the following page:- http://www.corfid.com/gl/biography.htm
This site (corfid) is run/owned incidentally by a near neighbour of yours young Florian in Vienna (also in the old world!!)
If you want even more information including tv and radio appearances and comprehensive tour details visit the other information site at:- http://www.lightfoot.ca
you also declared that you "want to know more about ... his native Country Canada."
Getting to know Gordon's songs will give you a wonderful insight to how he sees his country he is truly a Painter Passing Through!!
for information about Canada
try http://www.canada.com
which has links to national newspapers etc
but basically Canada is a large country
I know having driven from Montreal to Vancouver and returned by train
Ah yes you probably have already heard about the Canadian Railroad
"an iron road running from the sea to the sea "
approx 4500 miles say 7250 kilometres
from various sources including:- http://gocanada.about.com/cs/general...nadianquiz.htm
You also asked about this board's members i wanted to refer you to a previous topic "where is everybody from" at:- http://www.corfid.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/000883.html
This was recently added to at that URL that I found by searching for that exact topic title but strangely that link now takes you to a default page here that claims you are lost patent rubbish!!!But I did find the topic page as archived by the wonderful wayback machine at:- http://www.wayback.notlong.com
in the topic's early days in 2002 so have devised a notlong link:- http://everybody.notlong.com
That reminds me I have looked in vain on this site for a succinct summary listing all those readers who bit the bullet and have registered as members. Sure you can click on any member's profile link and see whatever they have publicly revealed about themselves here. But nowhere have I been able to find what must surely exist a complete database of members. If either Charlene or Florian is reading this can such a list be compiled and stored as a web page or section on this site please
now can I ask one question myself:-
have you any ideas on why Gordon is/was so obviously popular in Germany I say obviously because of the availabity of the early Lightfoot United Artists albums on the three wonderful Bear Family reissues on CD and the fact that my Lightfoot CD collection (mainly UK purchased) includes several made and printed in Germany examples
