well done Charlady yet another ace piece of reporting.
Most interesting regarding the song Piddling Pete
I heard Gord sing this back in 1968:-
see the set list for Friday May 10th 1968...
Theatre Maisonneuve Place des Arts (Montreal) at:-
http://www.johnfowles.org.uk/LIGHTFO...ay10th1968.htm
and I had always assumed that it was an old song but now I wonder
google research does not help:-
on
http://www.coolabah.com/ausblog/bill...dling-pete.cfm
Bill's Blog claims it for an Australian ditty
"PETE, THE PIDDLING PUP.
A poem in ten piddles and a puddle by I. P. Standing

1949 Gunnedah Intermediate High School, NSW, Australia"
but a UK site shows the "lyrics" too
http://www.foalfarm.org.uk/poems/pidpete.htm
and the song is apparently on one UK album se:-
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/scrumpy/5pp/5plonsa.html
and your Mr Newland on his site at:-
http://www.davidnewland.com/construct/press_art3.html
reporting on a show in Ottawa back in January said
"while Valdy, resplendent in his red running shoes, performed Piddling Pete."
