Good point Silver Heels...I have versions of that song by Marty Robbins & Slim Whitman and The Sons Of The Pioneers. The origins of "The Red River Valley" have been lost in time, though a song written in 1896 by James Kerrigan, "In the Bright Mohawk Valley" seems to be a direct ancestor. The song provided the title for the first Republic film that reunited The Sons Of The Pioneers with Roy Rogers in 1941 and was used in the 1943 Rogers clasic "King Of the Cowboys".
Hey, while we are at it Silver Heels (name comes from Don Q?) how about "El Paso" that was a 1960 #1 song for Marty Robbins?
