Thank you Cathy, for the explanation of the chord, I am familiar with the shape you describe, it is Liam Gallager's favourite chord shape, although he leaves his pinky on the e string 3rd fret, and moves his middle and index around from D to A7 to G to C. with a constant g & d note(s) ringing out on the high strings.
