Just watched PART 1.
Mostly talk of the Canada Post stamp being released today.
Barry Harvey came to him after a call from CanPost about 3 months ago (around when I spoke with him) saying they wanted to put out a postage stamp with him on it.
He's honoured, and thinks it's fun, doesn't collect stamps but will buy some, have them framed and leave them to his kids in his will.
He says the commonality of the other folks on the stamps is they all started around the same time, 3 are of the folk era and are still out performing and in the trade.
He says he wil be able to travel the world and never have to leave home and didn't realize there are 6 million stamps being printed. He was consulted about the artwork and is quite pleased with the Gord's Gold album photo that shows him with 'that dark look, like thinking' and any good picture of him is welcome.
The interview takes place in the very grand foyer of his home in Toronto.
PART 2 in the next hour..
PART 2
He spoke about his 'mechanical failure' and how good he feels. The rejuvenation he feels (as well as his orchestra) from touring and performing live and he's trying to get it perfected.
He spoke of the fans being out for the shows and getting great vibes/feedback from them.
I will try to transcribe it asap. Perhaps it will show up on YouTube or some such site. Perhaps CBC or CBCNW archives it..I will check.
He looked great - rail thin but smiling and twinkling eyes..
Humble and grateful as usual.
Not much, if any, new revelations or things we haven't heard asked and answered before.
It was lovely to see a glimpse of his home, and a few of his 28 geetars he has sitting in his foyer as if they are just waiting for the next time he walks out the door to head out on tour..
