Last Friday I make it that 8 attended the chat session
including Ed safely returned from Ireland
he revealed that he had added a page on his travels to his web site at http://edmullen.net/ireland01.html
Ed nice pics but not all of us are blessed with high speed connections so you really should have utilised the time-honored thumbnail gallery method!!
I also liked your comment about the lack of hard-shoulders.
I well remember a high speed drive along the southern coast road to Cork it must have been turnip-harvest time as the hard shoulder was frequerntly used as a dumping place for huge and dangerous heaps of them
No doubt Ed you have a store of apocryphal anecdotes
my favo(u)rite 2 from that trip are:-
1.Before we even left England a telephoned enquiry to our hosts in Cork on where we should meet them elicited this reply
"on the dual carriageway (divided highway)"! They explained that at that time in all of Eire there were but 2 stretches of such a road theirs and one in Dublin!
2.In Waterford after we had sampled the local brews we asked a friendly barmaid
"Where can we get some good fish and chips?"
She replied I kid you not "Oh to be sure that's a problem
there are some that have good fish but poor chips
and others that have the good chips but poor fish!!"
In fact the very first place we went into had both good fish and good chips (french fries).
I can still taste the Mackerel in batter something one does not usually find in one of the "Great British Takeaways"
Anyway I have digressed
Tonight there should be another chat session at the usual time 9 pm EDT and place http://www.rikschatroom.shorturl.com
