There are probably more Dead bootlegs and other recordings around than any other group. There must be a huge number of live concert recordings, nearly all of them "unauthorized" in the traditional sense, with a vast catalog of same to be swapped among fans. They realized early on, I think, that it was the ticket paying fan in the seats that brought in the money, not the album sales. No wonder you can continue to hear the "what a long, strange trip it's been," over more than 40 years.
