hi folks,

guess intros should be priority. my stage name is ambrose woodfellow. my real name is les. more or less. i know, bad joke. <g> among other things, i'm a folk/americana musician. not that i'm good, mind you, but i try. <g>

i'd just like to relate a short story.

sometime during the mid 60's, our family took a vacation to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. while we were there, we visited a landmark site known as the Whitefish Bay Light House.

at the time, and as i recall, the light house was on an open beach facing Lake Superior.

the image of the Whitefish Bay Light House has stuck in my mind over these many years. i stood in awe of that light house, sparse as it was. a tower of open steel amind the vast shore of sand and water of Lake Superior.

after nearly 35 years, i was able to re-visit Whitefish Bay. just this past September i was able to get there again. such a site to see. and such a site more reverant you will not find in Michigan nor on any Great Lakes shore.

as i'm sure everyone here knows, the Edmond Fitzgerald found it's demise 15 miles from the welcome though devastatingly distant shores of Whitefish Bay.

it was heart warming and bone chilling at the same time. a head rush.
