Hello Paul, I know that the famous "A" chord, your supposed to be able to play the high E string open. But when you play the chord "A", such as pic #1, the high E is muted.
But remember the correct way to play it, is with fingers, 1,2 and 3. and leave the high E open.
Depends on the player I guess...
