Buttt...although well spotted "Mystified Of Whitby" that is not the problem as young Gord so astutely pointed out you can only display a picture that is already on a web site and NOT still reposing on your hard drive NOR can you display a web page complete as the URL must end with a valid picture designation like jpg or gif (or for the purists png)
Never fear I have already started writing a completely revised tutorial to replace my original small talk forum one at:- http://www.corfid.com/ubb/Forum3/HTML/000109.html
since then I have (as JJ so quickly caught on and started using) discovered the free upload site http://www.upload4free.com
that I used to good effect on the test forum topic at:- http://www.corfid.com/ubb/Forum3/HTML/000122.html
Although this is only an ultra simple short-term solution as there is a time limit on that site that I need to look at again to ascertain the details.
No the real solution is to find a properly free site that does allow hotlinking which is what you must do if you do not use either an existing picture or have your own web site to upload to Please also note that Sidney's MSN site works after a fashion but as I attempted to explain on yet another topic that fails because the resulting URL is so long the UBB system here messes it up hence the need to make a substitute "notlong" URL
Hang on a bit longer as I just need more time to sift through the over 11 million results Google gives on a search for "free web sites"!!!
