Mason Cox yesterday became the first person born in the USA to win an AFL premiership medal. His club Collingwood Magpies defeated the Brisbane Lions 90 to 86. It was a cracking, pulsating game throughout the four quarters, was in the balance until the final minute and the attendance at the Melbourne Cricket Ground was just over 100,000. The pre-game performance by American glam rockers KISS went over well too. (My beloved Melbourne Football Club had again entered the finals in the top four and suffered two losses to be eliminated.)
