Definitions
Here are the proper definitions of the terms according to American Heritage dictionary:

Copy: a reproduction of the original
Pirate: the use of stolen intellectual property of another
Counterfeit: an inferior duplication made to defraud
Bootleg: Product produced without permission

Confused? Good! Forget all that. Here are the definitions as they are used by insiders.
.
Al then fully detailed those "insider definitions"

Whilst researcbing on corfid (using,of coutse, Firefox Grrr!!) Gordon's recordings in my capacity of Curator of ALBUM (the Awesome Lightfout Bootleg Unofficial Museum I really appreciated refinding Al's definitions and the details of four pertinent "terms" which I have quoted above (each "term" being a category of Unofficial/Unauthorised recordings) I was delighted to rediscover an old snd quite detailed thread started bythe famed Phoenician Matthew Bullis (who does not seem to have posted here since 2007) the thread as you can see below holds much detail and opinion about "bootlegs" that I thought Newbies here would like to see it, especially included were several postings by the one time very regular member
Al "The Watchman" (who has chosen to be silent since 2018):-
I have quoted above Al's basic definitions and if you click the link after his name at the iop of my quote box you will be taken directly to his long posting which details each of the four "terms" and I intend incorporating them in the draft web page cataloguing "Bootlegs" that I am currently working on:-

I finally got the quoting code to be inserted correctly so that Al's text is now in the quote box
