Default Re: Uluru (Ayers Rock) in central Australia

I'm just back from May29-Jun1 in central Australia. I visited Uluru (Ayers Rock) and walked the 9Km (5 miles) around its base. The climb to the 350m summit was closed due to 25-knot winds, but I later heard it was reopened minutes after I left! I went on to Alice Springs, where the main event was the Australian Football League's first-ever game in central Australia. My beloved Melbourne Football Club played very well against 1st-placed Port Adelaide and led with 8 minutes remaining, but lost 95-75. I had a good look around town, including the Alice Springs Golf Club (hottest in the world), the Todd River (dry as usual), the station's monument to the Ghan railway (Adelaide-Darwin), Lasseter's Casino (featured in the movie "Priscilla: Queen of the Desert") and the Botanic Gardens (where 2 kangaroos hopped past me before I could photograph them). John Fowles will also be interested to know I took photos of the library named after his favourite writer, Nevil Shute ("A Town like Alice", "On the Beach", etc). I regard central Australia as the real Australia. Every Australian, and every regular visitor to Australia, should go there at least once.
