Hmmm. The least surprising snippet here is that even in 1964 the company was happy to pay to get John to leave England as he "managed to get myself transferred at the company's cost to Montreal ".
In retrospect it was kind of the Canadians not to consider this an act of war -what did the Canadians do to deserve it ?
