Yes it was! And the analog releases benefitted from it - the DSR album has some very good sound - at least my LP copies did...
Thanks for this thread, and the link to the McCartney stuff - I enjoyed reading about it.
I somehow don't think Gord will ever really want to go back like Sir Paul has - it's common knowledge that he's never really liked listening to his old work. Songbook was a very rare exception.
Still, with all the stories of all the various soundboard recordings of concerts that GL has accumulated over the years, I'd love it if someday a "Best of Gordon Lightfoot - Live" came out - featuring the best, definative, and noteworthy live performances throughout his career - featuring at least a couple of songs from each album as they were played around the time those albums came out. I think Gord might have to get zapped with a live cattle prod before he would do the work himself though. But if someone associated with him did it, with GL providing the final approval, then maybe it would be possible...
