I was 12 in 1971 when my parents moved our family to a small town far from where we had always lived. Being shy, my best "friend" for a while was the family record player spinning Classic Lightfoot round and round. I huddled next to the speakers and listened to Gordon's beautiful voice singing "The Last Time I Saw Her" and I knew I was "in love". I couldn't imagine who that man singing was, but I was sure he must be perfect to be able to sing like that and take my loneliness away. That song still takes me back. I was my first Gordon song and it hooked me forever. I played that album so much that I wore it out and had to buy my mom another one. I still know the words to every song!
