Default Re: The Moment Your Realized....I'm A "Lighthead" !

No one moment, probably just a gradual awakening. I had heard "Talking in Your Sleep" and bought and bought Summer Side of Life which became one of my favorites immediately. I didn't add any more GL to my collection until my brother gave me a copy of Sundown (along with America's Homecoming) for my high school graduation. At the time, I considered the two albums very good but was not compelled to find out any more about Gord's music. Later, my freshman year of college, when I was thumbing through the cutout bin in the Finest Record Store in Greeley, Colorado (still a great place if you ever travel through) I came across "The Very Best of Gordon Lightfoot." None of the songs were familiar but I think it was just a buck so I took it home. CRT and The Last Time I saw Her blew me away and I was getting much more interested in this amazing troubadour. Living in the dorm as a freshman, there was a girl who I occasionally got together with and traded songs on the guitar. One night, she played "Beautiful" which somehow I had never heard before. I asked her about it and she told me it was a Gordon Lightfoot song. Within a few days, I returned to the Finest and found a used copy of Don Quixote.

Gordon Lightfoot's music to me is timeless. The words and tunes mean as much to me today, maybe more than they did then. I have now been a fan for about 2/3 of my life.
