This sounds like something Letterman would say jokingly of course.
I myself would like to see Lightfoot get the entire second half of the show. A shorter monologue with only 1 other guest,,, & then... 'The Royal Treatment' till the end of the broadcast !
In the 80's I would never miss 'Late Night with David Letterman' following Carson. Couldn't wait for the following night to see what would he be doing next.
But it's the way he took the news when Leno got 'The Tonight Show' that sort a made me lose interest in him.
