Default Doomsday I Hope Not!!

Yesterday amongst reading about Beyond Petroleum's celebrating their apparently successful capping of their spewing Gulf Of Mexico oil well I read a most disturbing article at:-
http://www.helium.com/items/1882339-...-killing-event
"Ominous reports are leaking past the BP Gulf salvage operation news blackout that the disaster unfolding in the Gulf of Mexico may be about to reach biblical proportions.

251 million years ago a mammoth undersea methane bubble caused massive explosions, poisoned the atmosphere and destroyed more than 96 percent of all life on Earth".........

The bottom line: BP’s Deepwater Horizon drilling operation may have triggered an irreversible, cascading geological Apocalypse that will culminate with the first mass extinction of life on Earth in many millions of years.

The oil giant drilled down miles into a geologically unstable region and may have set the stage for the eventual premature release of a methane mega-bubble.

Ryskin’s methane extinction theory

Northwestern University's Gregory Ryskin, a bio-chemical engineer, has a theory: The oceans periodically produce massive eruptions of explosive methane gas. He has documented the scientific evidence that such an event was directly responsible for the mass extinctions that occurred 55 million years ago
Other reports on this speculation have been published in the last month or so
and most recently the theory was debunked at:-
http://io9.com/5585294/methane-bubbl...story-debunked
and there is as is only to be expected a firm rebuttal from BP at:-
http://www.politicsdaily.com/2010/06...i-bp-responds/

"BP's View

BP America spokesman Robert Wine told Surge Desk that Matai's claims were unfounded, saying: "Of course there's natural gas down there. That's what's coming up, that's what we've been burning this whole time. It's what caused the explosion in the first place, after all, so where does this idea of another bubble or explosion come from? It is a bit difficult to comment on the claims of unspecified geologists."

I am bringing this up for two reasons
1.While there is still time I wanted to say goodbye it's been good to know you
2.If you and I are going to be extincted in the near future
before I go I would dearly like to hear Gord's Doomsday Song

From what I understand Wayne no doubt has a recording of this but as it was obtained like others in his collection on the basis that he would no pass it on he is an unlikely source.

However several fans have copies of the CDs made from the Skip Weshner tapes one of which included both vocal and recitation of this appropriate ditty
There used to be an artwork site that had several items of CD artwork for the various Skip CDs, the site was run by the Bittorrent pioneering website http://easytree.org and I have an old bookmark linking to
http://www.artwork.easytree,org
but it is either down or gone and the various archived copies do not include the skip artwork. however I did save some items and here are two

There was a third I think of another CD that included Gord's take on Elton John's "Your Song" but i do not seem to have it handy
However Joveski must have some (or all) of the Weshner CDs because he did upload "Your song" to one of those (not recommended) non permanent storage sites see his posting at:-
http://www.corfid.com/vbb/showpost.p...13&postcount=6
A permanent copy may now be acquired from
http://http://www.johnfowles.org.uk/lightfoot/extra_rare/gl-yoursong.mp3]download link[/url]
Simply right click that link then "Save Target As"
to download a 1:57 mp3 that is only 2.24MB (sampled at 160KBPS)
Perhaps Mende you could now make an mp3 of The Doomdsday Song. you could then either upload it to sendspace.com as before or email it to me and I will add it to my uploaded collection
I really must make a determimed effort to get those Skip CDs so if you are so inclined Mende could I suggest that you make a set of mp3s of the relevant tracks then make a compressed zipfile and upload it to rapidshare to share
