Thanks Brink. "Selling" was a definite mistake on my part.
Wooden guitars are unfinished on the inside, so there's no varnish, lacquer, etc. to seal the wood. If there was, you wouldn't get the sound as well. The wood can absorb moisture. It can also lose moisture and crack. Most guitarists, particularly in the winter, have to humidify their instruments due to the drier heating in most buildings. Guitars like the temperature and the humidity to be in the 70s.
I've read of violins coming apart in very humid conditions because the wood swells and glue gets soft. I've known of symphony orchestras having very specific on stage temperature and humidty requirements for their performances.
Many folks just play out of tune and don't care. Gord does. One the reasons why we like him so much.
