Re: Songbook & A Look Back.
A long-time GL Fan, I balked at buying Songbook in 1999 because I already had everything on CD or vinyl; yet I was curious about those unreleased recordings. Finally, this year, upon hearing that old GL recordings are going up in price, I decided to buy Songbook. Oh wow, what a surprise. Those new recordings were amazing.
Here is my "review" of Songbook.
Message to the wind--nice.
You'll still be missing me-- OK.
Mama Said-- Perfect.
Station Master--don't like.
Too much to lose--Perfect. Classic GL.
Heaven don't deserve me--OK. An angry tone here.
Stone Cold Sober--a personal letter to someone
Borderstone--why does a song about a small town sound so dark?
Canary Yellow Canoe--sorry don't like
Keepin' on yearnin'-- Very good, should've been on album
Betty called me in--good
Always on the bright side--plodding and slow
Forgive me Lord--OK
Lifeline--OK
