the girl in red is the g.f. (and medal winner herself) of one of the brothers who was speed skating and won gold..one of two medals for him and he's just been chosen to carry the flag in the closing ceremonies:

Charles Hamelin won gold in the 500m short-track event, Friday, while Francois-Louis Tremblay earned bronze. Less than an hour later, Hamelin and Tremblay led their teammates to gold in the 5,000m relay.
