You know, long after Gord finally retires (hopefully around age 80 or so), us fans will be discussing these touring and not recording years ad nausium. What drove him? Were his adult children still expecting him to pay for everything? Was he having trouble keeping up with the mortgage on his house? Alimony, palimony? Or did he just want to die on stage?
A lot of you will disagree with me, but I keep thinkig of Neil Diamond. Neil will be 69 this January. He'll keep touring. I doubt, like Gord, that 70 will stop him. Granted, Neil hasn't had the health problems Gord has, but let's see how many dates Gord does, as opposed to Neil 2 years from now and I'll bet they are comprable.
I'm going to see Ian Anderson in concert next week. Ian's 62, we'll see what he's doing when he's 70. Just some things to contemplate.
