I can't recall how many apartments are where my uncle is (100?)- but I've only ever seen one other guy there besides him. He finally did meet someone he liked and they have been an item for well over a year. It's more like a dorm atmosphere there! sans the alcohol though I know my uncle does like a glass of wine now and again. Oh yeah -plenty of activities to keep them busy and when my son and I visit, we'll often end up shooting a few games of pool.

The seniors chronic care place my uncle was at let him have his own beer fridge..with beer!
The buildings for older folks whose families are grown and gone are bought or rented out and there are no restrictions on their lifestyles..perhaps in a gov.run seniors home there are rules such as no alcohol. generally those places are for older folks who are ill tho..more like long term care but not in a hospital..
