Thanks for posting that Annie.

Even though hayes had only been part of my concious for these last 22 years (excpet when I saw him in Kurt Russell's "Escape From New York" in 1981) he did leave an indelible image.

I do still have my copy of "Theme From "Shaft" and another hit or two and even wathced South Park to hear his musings as "Chef".

Not long ago,I checked out from the library,"Wattstax". A soul concert filemd in th Watts,CA area in 1972. That performance and the two times he performed "Shaft" on the Oscars telecast(s) were Hayes at his best.
