Lightfoot has mentioned his keen interest in the coming election in the U.S. and probably would chuckle at it..
The parody is not about the loss of life and the sinking of The Fitz.
Over the years he's heard many parodies that used his songs and he himself has been parodied..the shows up here have done it many times..I think he has a wry sense of humour and appreciates the wit involved in these things..
This was not done to purposely hurt or demean the seamen lost or their families or the original intent of the song..
