The purpose of this thread is to start a discussion on favorite synthsizer parts in Lightfoot songs, to go along with the guitar thread.

A while back, several posters said they preferred the three man lineup. I do believe, though, that keyboards have played a vital role in concert recently, and in recordings from 1974 onward. I will start out by listing some of my favorites.

Greg Martynec's synth parts on Seven Island Suite and the Wreck. They are nearly the same, but provide tension in both tunes.

Michael Omartians incredible synth layers on Sea of Tranquility. The sound of this song just wows me every time I hear it. There are three or four synth parts. What an atmospheric number! Mike does a great job recreating the song in concert. His parts are even more vital as he takes several important lead parts against Terry's guitar in the breaks, playing a counter melody not heard on the record.

Mike's DX7 parts on Drifters are also very warm, just right fore the song. I especially like the chordal sounds just before the last verse.

I also love the newer sounds Mike (Heffernan) has incorporated in concert this year. The synth fiddle on Alberta Bound is a lot more accurate than the one on GGII and sounds a whole lot clearer. Also, the synth part on Triangle is different. It is also clearer and adds to the feel of the tune.
