Re: Massey 1999
I could say lots about the 4 Massey gatherings I have so far been fortunate to attend in 1999,2001,2005,2006 and in only a few weeks
and it starts over again. The chatroom has been mentioned a few times already as has the dificulty/impossibility of finding out aboot concerts pre internet.
I am personally well blessed by the Massey experience as it was through the chatroom and Julie's arranging the first convention
that I met Susan, and thanks to the efforts of Jenney and Diane got to meet Gord and the orchestra for the first time.
Had I not met Susan I very much doubt if I would be here today as it was only 2 months later that I sufferred a stroke that could have of course been fatal.
the visit to Orillia was most memoriable
All who went on that trip
as was the trivia quiz:-
Doug is in the centre wearing the CYC tee shirt, Jenney/Julie is on the right. sat at the table Val on the left, Erica immediately to the right of Doug, one of the other two males is Darin Hogan who had organised the tee shirts
Sorry that picture is a rather blurry still from my video camera
Our unifying Yellow Canary Canoe tee shirts helped a lot
A male modelling the tee shirt
I had to laugh at Ron's mention of the machete. talk and thoughts of axe murderers were rife in the chatroom.
Luckily for me I had told Susan that my favourite novel was "A Town Like Alice" by Nevil Shute. she went out and bought a copy and as she will often state thought that anybody who appreciated such a book could not be a an axe murderer!!!
we woillnmiss Diane and Deby this coming May.
Finally.
I would like to make a plea for some sort of common badge that those "corfiddlers who go to Massey could wear.
I was much struck buy the thought that there were a few attendees at last month's Florida concerts wthat we only knew about
after the event but did not know that they were there. RJ for one
I was quite taken with Grand Dame's Rose's "Gordquest08" patch and if she would/could display the artwork for it we could all
copy and print it. Failing that I have an idea so will try to show it later.
