That was the version that got a lot of airplay, yes. You should listen to Hamilton's version too. As I say on my Lightfoot web site, Gord's version captured the feel of the original, while adding Gord's unique singing and playing style. The QMS version was quite another matter!

When I told Hamilton that his song was getting a lot of attention because it seemed to apply equally to the 9/11 tragedy, he was quite moved. He had no idea!

That early album is quite something, with no fewer than 7 Dylan songs, many of them not yet recorded by Dylan (some were never recorded by him), as well of Pride of Man, and Hamilton's cover of Get Together. Get together was written by Dino Valenti of QMS, and as Hamilton told it, they "traded" songs and that's how each recorded the other's classic. Hamilton's recording of Get Together, while not the popular version, is the one included in most folk song anthologies.
