Re: Making CDs from LPs
What a timely topic! Just tonight I recorded Dream Street Rose. A number of tracks I haven't heard in several years! In recent weeks I've added Old Dan's Records and Cold On The Shoulder. So I echo many of the coments here...
Sir John hit the nail on the head in that we already have the essential elements, just need to put it all together with a little know-how and a little trial and error. Ok, with me it's lots of error, but I do get better at it. I've been at this on and off for about 4 or 5 months... or maybe longer (slow learner). I use Audacity (recorder) and CDex for converting WAVs to Mp3s.
My biggest issue at the moment is that usually when I convert to Mp3, the tracks lose the artist and album info. A minor problem, but annoying because sometimes I get it and sometimes I don't.... kinda the story of my life!! lol Any thoughts on this issue Sir John?
I have about 25% of Gord's stuff on "store bought" CDs, but it's a bit pricey to re-collect them all, so these will do in the mean time. I have found that something like a third of my cassette tapes are shot! bitterly disappointing, but not all that surprising. My re-recorded cassette held up much better then the "store bought" pre-recorded cassettes... go figure! I may have to resurrect the turntable to get a one or two straight from vinyl... stepping into the past!!!
