I just came across an old printout that possibly might be of interest to all those here approaching retirement or for the young and thoughtful trying to decide on setting up a plan for their eventual retirement.
For myself I involuntarily retired rather earlier than I ever intended after my stroke in 2000.
Anyway hoping it might be online somewhere I googled no sorry I igoogled:-

for the final phrase of the printed details which is a chilling:-
(And don't forget, when you die, they just dump you ) "over the side at no charge"
and obtained 120 results beginning with:-
http://abugsworld.typepad.com/a_bugs...sing_home.html

There is more elaboration and an alternative "Holiday" plan at
http://www.snopes.com/travel/trap/retire.asp
The same story is repeated on many other sites including a Cambridge University board Newsletter at:-
http://www.srcf.ucam.org/contact/CON...%20No%2020.doc
and even appears on the US AARP site at:-
http://community.aarp.org/n/pfx/foru...ravel&tid=4481
I now also know that AARP stands for "American Association of Retired Persons"
as well as "Animal Accident Recovery Patrol"
other interesting sites featuring this story include "joke of the week" on a site of special concern to our many lady members who have now reached 39

the FabulouslyForty.com sorority!!!
